Every year the number of manufacturers of plastic packaging and disposable tableware is increasing. Many of them use polystyrene as it is thermoformed easier, but it has significant disadvantages: expensive raw materials and harmful influence on human organism during processing and usage. Some polystyrene properties make the area of its usage limited. For example, if the temperature exceeds 60-80 C polystyrene becomes hazardous to health as its components start migrating into the contents of the container. For this reason polystyrene food packaging can only be used for cold food.
Thus, resistance to hot water becomes especially important when choosing the material for disposal tableware.
Polypropylene is one of polymers which excels polystyrene in heat resistance and harmlessness. Its fusing point is 160 C, that is why it can be used with hot agents – coffee, tea. Polypropylene can have light fragrance or can have it at all. Substances that can escape from polypropylene are almost harmless.
Also polypropylene is oil and fat resistant, that is why the package for ice-cream, milk mousse and jelly, sour cream and butter is made from polypropylene.
One more good quality is that it can be used for heating up quick-frozen ready-made food as it is resistant to microwave energy and heating.
Polypropylene is the most perspective polymer for disposal dishware and package production. Thanks to its properties polypropylene has a chance to force polystyrene out from the group of materials that are used in manufacturing of products that contact with food. Besides, there is a considerable difference in the polypropylene cost in comparison with polystyrene and ethylene.
All this give polypropylene an opportunity to have a stable and competitive world market position.
The disadvantages of polypropylene are some points in the technological process of stripe extruding and hot shaping – as crystalline polymer polypropylene has some properties. In this meaning polystyrene is processed more easily. But if polypropylene has many advantages in comparison with polystyrene then it should take a deserving place among modern package materials.
"Upax-Unity" manufacturing has a complex of the newest equipment that allows to output production of European standard.
The proper quality of ready-made production depends on the quality of a stripe. It is a peculiar semi finished product for disposal dishware and package production which is made by extruding method through a narrow-hole head.
This equipment can be used to produce a membrane the thickness of which is 0,20-2,5 mm.
All the output production confirms to the agreed standards of quality. It can be proved by sanitary certificate and GOST certificates. The incoming raw materials and ready-made production undergo rigid material and product quality control according to the above mentioned certificates.
Products made from polypropylene are notable for:
Polypropylene PP is ecologically harmless polymer that combines firmness and ductility of a form. Polypropylene (PP) is an unmixed compound of carbon black and hydrogen, one of the most ecologically harmless materials of the polymers that are used in food package production.
